Racers, spectators and vendors are already congregating at “Hammertown” in anticipation of the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers.
The “Hammertown” area at Means Dry Lake will open this Friday, Feb. 1, at 8 a.m., kicking off eight days of festivities and off-road racing competition at the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area.
The area is located east of Lucerne Valley and north of Highway 247. The main access point is Boone Road, which intersects with Highway 247.
The race schedule, according to ultra4racing.com, is as follows:
Feb. 3: King of the Motos
Feb. 5: Qualifying rounds
Feb. 6: Qualifying rounds
Feb. 7: Every Man Challenge and UTV race
Feb. 8: The main event
Feb. 9: Closing ceremonies
A $20 spectator fee covers the whole week of events.
