Beloved local educator dies at 67

Longtime local educator and volunteer Julia Bell died at home Saturday afternoon, according to her family. She was 67.

Further information was not provided. The family members are asking for privacy at this time, but they wish to thank the community for its sympathy and support.

Bell cited health issues as the main factor in her decision to step down from the Lucerne Valley Unified School District Board last year.

Her career spanned 43 years, including stints as a board member, teacher and principal in the district. She was also a longtime member of the Lucerne Valley Roadrunners, the local women’s charitable organization.

The Roadrunners once named Bell the Lucerne Valley Citizen of the Year. She was also a past president of Crossroads Little League.

A burial or memorial service had not been planned as of press time on Monday afternoon. If a public service is planned, The Leader will report the time and location.
