LUCERNE VALLEY • A Lucerne Valley resident appeared in court Thursday after being arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old girl and growing marijuana on his property.

Jason Haskins, 35, was arrested at 9 a.m. Wednesday by Detective Marc Bracco of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victor Valley station, according to a sheriff’s department press release.

The victim and the suspect met online on a dating website. The victim ran away from home on Sunday and was picked up by the suspect, according to the release.

The victim and suspect spent the next 24 hours together in the suspect’s residence, and the victim was then returned home unharmed, according to the release.

After obtaining a search warrant to search the Haskins’ home, sheriff’s detectives discovered evidence to support their case and arrested Haskins.

Detectives also found a marijuana grow with approximately 75 plants at the residence, according to the release.

Haskins is being held at West Valley Detention Center for charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and oral copulation with a person under sixteen, according to court records. His bail is set at $50,000.
