James Ramos was on track to unseat incumbent Neil Derry in the San Bernardino County 3rd District Supervisor race, with 59 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results released Tuesday night.

“The early numbers are very encouraging,” Ramos campaign spokesperson Andre Levesque said Tuesday night. “We’ll keep monitoring them but the early results show what we’ve seen on the campaign trail.”

Derry, who is from Redlands, is the current 3rd District Supervisor. He trailed Ramos by 19,010 votes with 18 percent of precincts reporting as of 10 p.m. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

The San Bernardino County 3rd District encompasses the most eastern portion of the county in addition to Barstow, Lucerne Valley, Twentynine Palms, Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, portions of Redlands, Yucaipa, Highland and San Bernardino to the south.

These results represent the final numbers available as of press time Tuesday night. Check for updated results Wednesday.
