Couple found with pot near 5-year-old son

FROM STAFF REPORTS

LUCERNE VALLEY • A couple who were both on probation were arrested again after deputies found boxes and bags of marijuana in their Lucerne Valley home with their 5-year-old son nearby, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

Kimberly Arnold, 27, and Daniel Lovejoy, 25, were booked in Victor Valley Jail on charges of possession of marijuana for sale and cruelty to a child.

Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victor Valley station received an anonymous tip that the two may have been selling marijuana out of their home in the 10000 block of Calle De Paz, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department. When deputies Andy Antekeier and Johnnie Mamon got to the home, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside and the back door was open.

Deputies searched the home and found boxes and bags of marijuana along with paraphernalia consistent with drug sales. Arnold and Lovejoy were arrested without incident.

The two are being held without bail for violating their probation. Arnold has nine prior arrests for drug and theft charges dating back to 2003 in this county, a search of electronic court records shows. Lovejoy has more than a dozen charges on his record including growing marijuana, possession, theft and vehicle violations.

The 5-year-old boy was released into the custody of Child Protective Services.
