LUCERNE VALLEY • Lucerne Valley High School lost its home opener 72-12 to perennial 8-man football powerhouse Joshua Springs on Friday night at Ron Peavy Field.
The Mustangs (0-2) took an early lead when quarterback Daniel Stratton capped a nine-play, 40-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run, but Lucerne Valley went on to surrender 72 unanswered points to the Lightning (1-0)
The Mustangs didn’t score again until Stratton threw a 19-yard TD pass to Lonye Logan with less than 2 minutes to play.
