L.V. could get 'fast-tracked'

The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) has been released. This plan would support state and federal fast-tracking for renewable energy projects in “Desert Focus Areas.” Lucerne Valley is included within and surrounded by Desert Focus Areas in all of the presented alternatives of the plan.

An end to the comment period has been set for Wednesday, Aug. 8. According to a release from the California Desert Coalition, “this end to the comment period is much more abrupt than many of the stakeholders had anticipated.”

The issue will be discussed at the Lucerne Valley Economic Development Association Meeting tonight at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center. LVEDA's comments appear as a letter to the editor in this week's print edition of The Leader.
