FROM STAFF REPORTS
Despite the searing temperatures, the National Weather Service says Lucerne Valley residents should be prepared for possible flash flooding on Thursday.
The NWS announced Wednesday afternoon that thunderstorms with heavy downpours are possible from Thursday morning through Thursday evening. However, this is only a flash flood watch and has not yet been upgraded to the more-serious flash flood warning.
Thunderstorms are also possible Friday and Saturday.
Temperatures hovered around 110 degrees Fahrenheit in Lucerne Valley Wednesday afternoon. Thursday should be cooler, with a likely daytime high of 98 degrees according to the NWS.
