LUCERNE VALLEY • The public comment period for Chevron Energy Solutions Lucerne Valley solar project is under way, and a public meeting will be held Tuesday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Lucerne Valley Elementary School.
The public comment period ends May 13.
Chevron Energy Solutions applied to the Bureau of Land Management to construct a 516-acre solar photovoltaic power plant facility on public land roughly eight miles east of the center of town.
The project is expected to generate 45 megawatts of electricity, a BLM press release stated.
The first draft of the environmental impact statement for the project also includes a proposed amendment to the California Desert Conservation Area Plan. According to the BLM release, “It analyzes the site-specific impacts on air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, water resources, geological resources and hazards, hazardous materials handling, land use, noise, and visual resources and transmission system engineering and transmission line safety.”
